You're making total sense here, Novae. Things change, and keep changing -- nothing lasts forever. I'm running into this as I think about marketing my "speculative fiction" trilogy, including covers. I'm GUESSING people are a bit tired of any given genre and its tropes, and are looking for something different, which still possesses high quality. We can do high quality -- can we be different enough, and yet not too different to successfully market our work? It's time to find out.
